CrystalMaker Guide: View Direction

Setting a view direction

CrystalMaker lets you view any crystal structure along a vector, defined either as:-

• Lattice vector [UVW] where U, V, W are coefficients of the axial vectors a, b, and c, thus the vector is: Ua + Vb + Wc.
• The normal to a lattice plane (hkl) - where a/h, b/k, c/l are the intercepts of the lattice plane on the crystallographic x, y, and z axes, respectively.

To specify a view direction, select the Transform > View Direction command. The Set View Direction dialog appears. Use the radio buttons to choose either a lattice vector, or a plane normal. Next enter the three indices in the boxes. Click the OK button to replot the structure, viewed along that direction.
